Last year, the iPod Touch update came without a camera, which was a bit of a disappointment. The iPad was released without a camera, which was another disappointment (and a bad decision seeing as it would work great with FaceTime).
But as the rumor goes, the faceplates pictured above will be on the new iPod Touches, which are to be released in September. These are not iPhone faceplates, the front facing camera on the iPhone 4 is off center for the speaker. The iPod Touches often see an update after the summer, so September makes sense as the expected date for a new model.
But, as you can see in the picture below, the camera will have to be different than the one in the iPhone.
Don’t forget, the iPod Nano is a lot more slim than the iPhone, and fits a small, video only camera in it just fine. Could the iPod Touch be getting this very same camera for FaceTime? It’s a possibility.
