New iPad in the Works, with Exciting New Features

Well, of course Apple’s working on a new iPad, one that will impress customers and stockholders alike. But the supposedly leaked information on the next generation iPad make it out to be the iPad everyone wanted Apple to release months ago.
It’s reported to have 5 distinct new features:

  • Front Facing Camera for FaceTime
  • New Display (retina?)
  • 3-Axis Gyroscope
  • USB Port
  • Slimmer, more portable design
A lot of these are expected. The iPod got a front and rear facing camera, as well as a gyroscope. And since almost every Apple product is somehow slimmer than it’s predecessor, better mobility is to be expected as well.
However, a retina display on such a large screen could be expensive. Expensive, but not impossible.
The USB Port is one that Apple has avoided on their mobile products. Still, if the iPad is to be a true competitor against laptops, it’s going to need a USB port. This would require a massive update to iOS to allow for everything from USB printers to storage devices. Could it be done? Of course. Is it likely? I wouldn’t put money on this, because it doesn’t seem too likely.
